Under the new system, users can go to YouTube settings and select their preferred language. If a dubbed version of a video is available, the platform automatically plays the video in the selected language. This development is being described as a major change in the way of consuming global content, as now the barrier of understanding the language will no longer be a hindrance to watching the video.

A prominent aspect of the upgrade is a new AI technology called “Expressive Speech,” which is designed to preserve the tone, emotion, and style of the original creator’s voice. YouTube says it aims to eliminate the slurs and machine-like sounds found in traditional dubbing, which often affect the quality of the content.

“Expressive Speech” is currently available for videos translated into English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. The company has indicated that more languages ​​will be added to the list soon.

This move will not only provide content creators with an opportunity to reach a global audience, but will also give users a new experience of understanding videos from around the world in their own language.
