A new study has found that toothpaste made from hair can repair teeth and prevent the early stages of tooth loss.

Scientists at King’s College London have discovered that keratin, a protein found in hair, skin and wool that is often used in shampoos, may also be beneficial for teeth.

According to Dr Sherif Al-Sharkawi from King’s College London, the scientists believe this is a game changer, an industry mover that introduces keratin as a real product in our everyday use to protect and heal your tooth enamel.

He said that if you have a microcrack or a very small defect in your tooth, it will heal on its own without you even noticing.

Many dental problems are caused by poor enamel, which once worn away does not regenerate.

When keratin combines with minerals in saliva, it creates a protective coating to mimic the structure and function of natural enamel.
