The first supermoon of the year is today. The first of the three supermoons to be seen this year will be seen today.

According to Pakistan’s space research organization SPARC, there will be three supermoons this year, of which the first supermoon is visible today. This supermoon will appear at 8:47 pm and will be visible until shortly before sunrise in the morning.

Today’s supermoon is 224,599 miles from Earth, which is 6.6 percent larger and 13 percent brighter than a normal full moon. The brightest supermoon of the year is expected in November, when the moon will be only 221,817 miles from Earth.

Science says that when the full moon comes to the closest point to Earth during its orbit, it appears large and bright, which is commonly called a ‘supermoon’. A supermoon is recorded as being much larger and much brighter than the moon on any other night.
