ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi held a meeting in which important issues including the security situation were discussed.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the need for cooperation between the federal and provincial governments for the development and prosperity of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Prime Minister called the cooperation of the federal and provincial governments indispensable for peace and order in the province.
The Prime Minister said that there is a need to further increase the efforts of the provincial government to establish peace and order, and the provincial government should strengthen provincial institutions to counter terrorism.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the federal and provincial governments will continue joint efforts to completely eradicate terrorism, and the provincial government should fulfill its constitutional responsibility for the establishment of peace and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and public welfare.
He said that the provincial government is empowered, so steps should be taken for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for health and education, the federal government is always striving for the betterment of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is an important unit of the federation, the federal government will continue to make full efforts within its jurisdiction for the prosperity of the people of the province. Close ties and effective coordination between the federation and the provinces are indispensable for national development and public service.
The Prime Minister assured cooperation in accordance with the federal framework for development projects, improvement of infrastructure, education, health and increasing employment opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that the federal government is pursuing the vision of taking all provinces together and implementing the vision of equal development, and through mutual consultation and collaboration, the goals of national unity, stability and prosperity can be achieved effectively.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had invited the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for a meeting, in which the security situation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was discussed. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa apprised the Prime Minister of the concerns related to terrorism.
The meeting discussed the payment of federal dues, while the possible protest on February 8 was also discussed. The meeting discussed the operation in the Tirah Valley and the evacuation of local people.
