Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President meet, discuss important regional and global developments

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of State in Tianjin, China, today.

The two leaders reviewed the current state of Pak-Turkish relations and expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in bilateral relations.

They appreciated the continuous increase in high-level exchanges and cooperation in a wide range of fields, including political, economic, defense and security sectors.

The Turkish President expressed his country’s solidarity with the people of Pakistan over the loss of precious lives and financial losses resulting from the flood situation in Pakistan during the recent monsoon rains and said that the government and people of Turkey stand shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan in this hour of difficulty.

The two sides discussed important regional and international developments.

They expressed deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and reiterated their shared commitment to use international platforms to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and condemn the ongoing Israeli aggression and genocidal policies.

The meeting reaffirmed the deep brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey and emphasized their shared commitment to further strengthen cooperation for peace, stability and prosperity in the Muslim world and beyond.
