Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif met with the delegation accompanying the US Vice President and then met separately with the Iranian negotiating delegation.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House, the Iranian delegation was led by the Speaker of the Iranian Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and was assisted by the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Abbas Araqchi.
While appreciating Iran’s participation in the Islamabad talks, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s sincere commitment to play its role as a mediator to help accelerate the pace towards achieving meaningful outcomes in the interest of regional and global peace and stability.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior officials also met with the US negotiating delegation led by US Vice President JD Vance.
It should be noted that after the ceasefire, high-level delegations of both countries have reached Islamabad at the invitation of the Prime Minister, where talks will be held between the two sides for lasting peace and a permanent ceasefire.
The Prime Minister had said in his address to the nation yesterday that Pakistan is making sincere efforts for the success of the talks so that peace in the region and the lives of millions of people can be protected. The rest of the results are in the hands of Allah.
