Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review the implementation of fuel saving and austerity measures in view of the situation in the region.

The meeting appealed to the public to support the government in the savings campaign, avoid unnecessary travel and prioritize teleconferencing in offices and workplaces.

The Prime Minister said that due to government decisions, there is an adequate quantity of petroleum products for the country’s needs and public relief was given top priority in the current situation. He said that relief was provided to the public as much as possible in the last three weeks.

According to the Prime Minister, to prevent oil prices from rising, the federal government provided Rs 125 billion through various savings and cuts in the development budget so that the public could be protected from the effects of global tensions.

In the meeting, the Prime Minister directed that provincial governments provide facilities to motorcycle and rickshaw owners to get their registrations done in their names. This step will digitize the data of motorcycles and rickshaws across the country and the owners will be able to benefit from government relief in the future.

The meeting was informed that a digital dashboard has been prepared for regular monitoring of the supply and demand of petroleum products and the supply chain, while arrangements for the import of petrol for April have also been completed.

The briefing said that unlike other countries, the supply of fuel in Pakistan is normal and there are no long queues or mismanagement anywhere.

The meeting was also briefed on the proposed fuel support program app for motorcycle and rickshaw riders, while Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and federal ministers and relevant officials participated through video link.
