ISLAMABAD: A delegation of newly elected Traders Welfare Association of Sitara Market, G-7 Markaz, Islamabad led by its President Altaf Hussain Shah visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and called upon the CDA to focus on developmental works in this oldest market of the federal capital for better growth of business activities.
Highlighting the issues of traders, Altaf Hussain Shah, President, Traders Welfare Association G-7 Markaz said that Sitara Market was one of the oldest markets of Islamabad, but was lacking in modern facilities. He said the condition of roads in the market was in bad shape and needed urgent repair.
He said non-availability of filtration plant and public toilets were creating problems for traders, but CDA was paying no attention to the development of this important business centre. He said Kachi Abadi in G-7 was a source of many problems and stressed that CDA should take urgent measures for removal of this Kachi Abadi. He assured that traders of G-7 Markaz would fully cooperate with ICCI in its efforts aimed at resolving the issues of business community.
In his welcome address, Sheikh Pervez Ahmed, Acting President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that role of CDA was very important in facilitating the growth of business activities in Islamabad. But unfortunately, the civic body was not playing its role positively due to which problems of business community were multiplying. He said the condition of roads, footpaths, parking and other facilities, especially in old markets was very unsatisfactory and urged that CDA should focus on undertaking developmental works in all business areas on priority.
He said traders should develop strong unity in their ranks because unity was the only force that would help them in raising strong voice and getting their problems resolved more effectively.
He assured the delegation of Sitara Market that Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry would highlight their issues at all relevant forums for redress. Sheikh Abdul Waheed, Vice President ICCI, Khalid Iqbal Malik, senior member ICCI, Khalid Chaudhry former Senior Vice President ICCI, Khurram Iqbal, General Secretary, Traders Welfare Association, G-7 Markaz and many other traders also spoke at the occasion and called upon CDA to address all issues of G-7 Markaz on urgent basis.
