Islamabad: In view of the protest of PTI parliamentarians, a heavy contingent of police was deployed at the gate of Parliament House, while the main gate was also closed.
According to Express News, armored vehicles were brought outside the Parliament Gate, while the Islamabad Red Zone was completely closed. A heavy contingent of police gathered at Radio Pakistan Chowk, and the Constitution Highway was completely closed from Radio Pakistan Chowk.
The police are not allowing any citizen and member of the assembly to go to the Parliament House. The police stopped member of the assembly Iqbal Afridi and Umair Niazi at Radio Pakistan Chowk.
PT leaders reached the gate of the Parliament House in protest. Due to the closure of the gate, PTI parliamentarians could not leave.
Opposition Leader in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas is leading the protesters, while Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Barrister Gohar are also among the protesters. Opposition members of the parliament left for the Cabinet Gate from the main gate.
Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai met Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and conveyed his concerns. Barrister Gohar was also present in the meeting. The opposition leader protested against the parliamentarians being prevented from leaving.
Opposition members staged a sit-in at the gate leading to the President’s House inside the parliament premises and sat on the steps leading to the President’s House, chanting slogans against the government. Speaker KP Assembly Babar Saleem Swati also sat on the sit-in.
Even after several hours, the situation is that PTI members of parliament are present on the sit-in and all the doors of the parliament have not been opened yet. Due to the closed doors, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who was outside the parliament house, could not reach the parliament, the lights in the parliament house were turned off.
The PTI leadership came inside the parliament house due to darkness and sat down and kept shouting slogans for the release of Imran Khan.
The issue should be resolved without complicating it, Achakzai
Earlier, while talking to the media, Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that our sit-in will be peaceful, the PTI founder should be given a meeting with his personal physician and family. Earlier, I was told that the PTI founder’s health is good, there are good doctors in the country and he wants to get treated. We should move towards a resolution without complicating this issue.
