Technology giant Microsoft has warned its millions of users that they could be vulnerable to cyberattacks if they do not update their computers by next week.
A decade after the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft is set to end support for the operating system on October 14. This means that the operating system will no longer be protected from online threats.
Microsoft executive Yousef Mahdi said in a blog post that the company will no longer provide security and feature updates and technical support for Windows 10 computers.
He said that these devices will continue to function but will not be given regular security updates, which will increase the risk of cyberattacks.
According to the latest data from StatCounter Global Status, more than 40 percent of all Windows users use the old operating system.
Yousef Mahdi said that applications running on Windows 10 will no longer receive support, which will be due to the lack of feature updates. As a result, some apps may stop working.
