RAWALPINDI: An FIR has been lodged at the Airport Police Station against a group of alleged supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf in UC-79, Rehmat Abad Chaklala for torturing, beating and threatening a female political worker of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) and her son. The case was registered with the airport police station under sections 148, 149, 357. 427 and 506 of Pakistan Penal Code (Punishment for criminal breach of trust). According to details on the day of polling on December 5, during the third phase of the recently concluded local government elections in Rawalpindi, Jamila Chaudhary who was supporting the PML-N candidate in the area was passing by the street where PTI local candidates had established their office. When Jamila heading towards her home crossed the election office of the PTI candidate, workers of local PTI candidates stopped the car and forced her son to come out of car. A video available with Daily The Patriot clearly shows that a mob of PTI supporters grabbed Muhammad Basil Chaudhary and initiated a violent attack against him, the mob led by PTI supporters severely tortured him. Despite the best efforts of Jamila to save her son from the goons the beating carried out for several minutes, the mob even manhandled Jamila Chaudhary and harassed the family. The family finally managed to escape the scene and the injured Muhammad Basil Chaudhary was taken to the nearby hospital for medical attention. The video obtained by Daily The Patriot also shows that few of the PTI candidates jumped on roof of the car and brutally thrashed the family, it is pertinent to mention that the daughter of Jamila Chaudhary was also present in the car.
While talking to the scribe Jamila Chaudhary said “I was on my way to my home when workers of PTI attacked my car and a mob of around 50 people not only beaten my son but also damaged the car. At that time my young daughter was also sitting in the car.” She said that few in the mob were carrying guns in their hands and threatened her with dire consequences for supporting PMLN. She said that culprits are using their political contacts to influence the case but she would not take a back step until justice is done. It is pertinent to mention here that it is the constituency of Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisal Ali Khan but few politicians of PMLN are trying to influence the case in favour of the culprits of PTI. Habib Khan is younger brother of Zafar Supari who is well known on social media and his uncle was contesting from the same union council for Chairman on ticket of PTI.
According to the airport police station one of the accused Danish Mughal has been arrested while efforts were being made to arrest the remaining culprits including Habib Ullah Khan, Raza Khan and Najeeb Khan.
