Trade activities have been started between Pakistan and Iran via land route.

According to Express News, trade activities have been started under the Pak-Iran Transit Corridor and the first export consignment has also been sent from Pakistan through this corridor.

Directorate Transit Trade Customs Sanaullah Abro told Express that the first export consignment of frozen meat has been sent to Tashkent, Uzbekistan through refrigerated trucks.

He said that consignments of goods will be transported from Pakistan to Central Asian states via Gwadar and Iran through the transit corridor.

He said that the activation of this corridor will not only accelerate the growth rate of Pakistan’s economy but will also increase the rush at Pakistani ports.

According to the Directorate, the Pak-Iran Transit Corridor has been launched under TIR. In this regard, the Directorate Transit Trade Customs has made the TIR procedure effective and activated Taftan, Ramdan, Sost, Gwadar and other important border crossing points for TIR transit.

The Pak-Iran Transit Corridor will prove to be an important milestone in Pakistan’s trade and transit sector and this development is being termed as a strategic achievement for Pakistan which will not only increase exports but will also give a new dimension to regional connectivity. According to sources, the activation of the Iran Corridor will provide Pakistan with an alternative and low-cost trade route, reducing its dependence on sea routes, which will reduce transit time and significantly reduce business costs. At a ceremony held in this regard, Director General Transit Trade Customs Sanaullah Abro and Director Transit Muhammad Rashid dispatched the first consignments.
