Lahore Test: Second day's play ends, South Africa scores 216 runs for the loss of 6 wickets

Lahore: The second day of play in the first Test match between Pakistan and South Africa has ended.

At the end of the second day of the first Test being played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, South Africa has scored 216 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in its first innings against Pakistan. Tony de Zorzi is not out with 81 and Senoran Muthusamy is not out with 6 runs. For Pakistan, Nauman Ali dismissed 4 players, earlier the Pakistani team was dismissed after scoring 378 runs in its first innings.

South Africa’s first wicket fell for 45 runs when Aiden Markram was caught by Nauman Ali after scoring 20 runs. On a total score of 80, Wayne Mulder also fell to Nauman Ali after scoring 17 runs.

At a total score of 174, Ryan Rickleton returned to the pavilion after scoring 71 runs off the ball of Agha Salman, Tristan Stubbs became the victim of Noman Ali after scoring 8 runs, while Dewald Brewis was caught by Shan Masood off the ball of Sajid Khan for zero. At a total score of 200, Kyle Vereen was caught lbw off the ball of Noman Ali for 2 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan started the second day’s play this morning with a loss of 313 runs for 5 wickets. Mohammad Rizwan came to bat with 62 and Salman Agha with 52 runs.

In front of the devastating bowling of South African bowler Senoran Muthusamy, the Pakistani batsmen proved to be a wall of sand and the Pakistan team was all out for 378 runs.

Senoran Muthusamy took four wickets on the second day while he led a total of 6 players to the pavilion in the match.

In the 102nd over of the match, Senoran Muthusamy sent three Pakistani players to the pavilion. On the third ball of the said over, Mohammad Rizwan was caught after scoring 75 runs, while on the fifth ball of the same over, Noman Ali was bowled for zero, and on the sixth ball, Sajid Khan was also caught without scoring any runs.

Shaheen Afridi also fell victim to Muthusamy after scoring 7 runs, while Salman Ali Agha was caught by Muthusamy off the ball of Sabrine after scoring 93 runs.

For the West Indies, Senoran Muthusamy took 6 wickets, Prenellan Sabrine took 2 wickets, Kagiso Rabada and Simon Harmer took one wicket each.

Day 1:

In the match, Pakistan captain Shan Masood won the toss and decided to bat first.

Abdullah Shafiq and Imam-ul-Haq opened the innings for Pakistan, but Abdullah Shafiq became the victim of Kagiso Rabada on the third ball after scoring only two runs.

Captain Shan Masood and Imam-ul-Haq strengthened the team by putting on a partnership of 161 runs. Shan Masood was dismissed for 76 runs.

Imam-ul-Haq was caught out for 93 runs five minutes before the tea break, missing out on a century. Saud Shakeel was also caught by the bowler on the very first ball.

Babar Azam could not stay at the crease for long and was dismissed after scoring 23 runs.
