Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu held a long press conference today in which he presented his plan for the future of Gaza.
According to the International News Agency, Prime Minister Netanyahu threatened that the Israeli army will maintain security control over the entire area from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, including Gaza.
The Israeli prime minister also said that before the reconstruction of Gaza, it is necessary to completely disarm Hamas and eliminate its military infrastructure, including tunnels.
He also made it clear that security control over Gaza will remain with our army until Hamas is disarmed.
The Israeli prime minister’s press conference took place when the body of the last Israeli hostage killed in Gaza, Ron Gweli, was returned to Israel.
The first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement was completed. Hamas returned all living hostages to Israel and also returned the bodies of the dead Israeli hostages.
In return, Israel released hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and returned the bodies of more than a dozen.
. At the same time, the first phase of the hostage crisis came to an end. Netanyahu claimed that the return of all hostages was possible through a combination of military and diplomatic pressure.
The Israeli Prime Minister added that the Rafah crossing with Egypt would soon be opened to both sides, but only people would be allowed to enter and no goods would be allowed to be brought in.
He added that about 50 people and their families could be allowed to enter daily and all people would be strictly checked. No one would be prevented from leaving Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said in blunt terms that an independent and separate Palestinian state would not be allowed to be established.
He denied any military role of Qatar and Turkey, saying that the troops of these countries would not be deployed in Gaza.
According to Netanyahu, Israel is also closely monitoring the technocratic committee set up for the civil administration of Gaza to ensure that people affiliated with Hamas’s military wing are not included.
In the context of the US President’s threat of an attack and concerns about the Iranian response to it, Netanyahu warned that if Iran attacks Israel, it will respond in a way that Iran has never seen.
Despite the ongoing political crisis in Israel and the differences between allies, Netanyahu said that Israel does not need new elections under the current circumstances.
He expressed hope that the budget and the bill exempting Jewish religious students from military service will be passed.
When asked about Hamas’ responsibility for the October 7, 2023 attack, Netanyahu said that responsibilities should be determined only after the real facts come to light.
He spoke of an investigative commission that the government and the opposition would form together, however, the opposition is demanding an independent state commission.
