US officials say that difficulties in detecting underwater mines laid by Iran are delaying the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the New York Times, US officials said that Iran had been laying mines indiscriminately from small boats since the start of the war with the US and Israel.According to US officials, Iran has not kept a complete record of the exact locations of the mines laid in the Strait of Hormuz, while some mines have been moved or washed away due to water waves.

They further said that this is why Iran is unable to fully track the mines laid in the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian forces do not have the immediate ability to remove them.

US officials also claimed that unlike land mines, installing and then removing naval mines is a more difficult process. It requires expertise and capacity.

According to US officials, due to the failure to remove the mines, there are still difficulties in restoring shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

It should be remembered that about 20% of the world’s oil is transported through the Strait of Hormuz. Due to the closure of this waterway, not only is there a shortage of oil, but its prices are also skyrocketing.

Due to the biggest energy crisis in decades, a storm of inflation has come and the world economy is facing the same difficulties as it was during the Corona epidemic.
