HPV vaccine included in annual vaccination campaigns for children

Rawalpindi District Health Authority has taken a big decision and has also included cervical cancer in the immunization campaign for children.

CEO Health Rawalpindi Dr. Ehsan Ghani said that now the immunization campaign will be for the prevention of 13 deadly diseases. The vaccine for cervical cancer will be given only to girls aged 9 years.

The Rawalpindi Health Department said that the immunization campaign will continue for the whole year from February next year. This year, girls aged 9 to 14 years were given the HPV vaccine.

CEO Health Rawalpindi said that 94% of the target was achieved in the HPV vaccination campaign. Cervical cancer is one of the deadliest diseases for women.

Dr. Ehsan Ghani said that the vaccine given at the age of 9 will make girls safe in the future. There is no truth in the propaganda of infertility due to HPV vaccination. There are no serious side effects of the HPV vaccine.

He further said that there may be a slight fever which will soon subside. Parents are urged to get their 9-year-old girls vaccinated. Our goal is to protect girls from life-threatening diseases like cervical cancer.
