ISLAMABAD: In view of the devastation caused by rain and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a special cell has been set up at the Prime Minister’s House and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed immediate and comprehensive relief operations in the rain-affected areas including KP and Azad Kashmir.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the NDMA to carry out comprehensive relief operations in the flood and rain-affected areas in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is fully aware of the flood situation and is issuing instructions for relief operations and has directed Chairman MDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider to maintain constant contact with the governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir and to expedite relief activities.
The Information Minister said that a special cell has also been set up at the Prime Minister’s House which is in 24-hour contact with the NDMA.
He said that during the recent rains and flood situation, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited NDMA three times and personally reviewed the rescue and relief measures, the government’s focus is on relief and rescue measures.
He said that all institutions are utilizing resources in the ongoing rescue and relief operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, steps are being taken to save human lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and regular awareness is being provided to all provincial governments including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through the NDMA’s early warning system.
Attaullah Tarar said that the NDMA’s Command and Control Center is active 24 hours a day and is keeping a close watch on the situation.
