MURIDKE, Nov 05 (INP): At least five persons were killed and four others injured when two rival groups traded fire here on Tuesday.
Police said that dwellers of Badhan area of tehsil Muridke of Sheikhupura district had come to local graveyard for offering fateha and mending graves of their beloved on occasion of 10 Muharram.
The Members of two groups, stated to be close relatives but in old enmity, exchanged hot words during renovating graves and the verbal clash took violent turn after which they started firing at each other.
In cross firing five people including Advocate Rana Saleh, his son Rana Shoaib Advocate, a nephew Awais and two members of opponent group identified as Adil and Umer died on the spot while four others sustained serious wounds.
Heavy firing created panic among the people gathered in graveyard to offer fateha and they had to lay down between the graves to save their lives.
The injured people were shifted to hospital where they were referred to Mayo Hospital Lahore due to serious wounds. Police registered a case against armed men of both groups and arrested few people involved in the firing while raids for detaining others were in progress. INP
