Federal Health Minister inaugurates first digital health center in Karachi.

Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has inaugurated the city’s first digital health center at the Federal Government Dispensary Civil Aviation. Through this center, patients will be treated through modern telemedicine, in which doctors abroad will be able to examine patients through live video calls.

Patients visiting the center will also be provided with free medicines. This facility is especially important for patients with complex diseases like breast, liver and lung cancer.

The Federal Health Minister said that the aim of this initiative is to reduce rush in hospitals and provide quality medical facilities to the people closer to home. Mustafa Kamal said that Pakistan has now turned into a factory for making patients, where people turn to big hospitals even for minor ailments, which puts unnecessary pressure on the system. That is why the government is strengthening primary health centers so that the people can get quality treatment closer to home.

He said that this is the first digital health center in Karachi and in the future more such centers will be established across the country so that every citizen can get immediate and quality treatment.

The Health Minister stressed that it is also important to focus on vaccination and primary care to prevent disease. A project was signed yesterday, under which 745 patients of breast, liver and lung cancer in Islamabad will be provided with medicines worth Rs. 9.8 million.
