The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to ban passengers coming to Pakistan from abroad under the baggage scheme from bringing commercial quantities of goods with them. Goods worth more than $1,200 will be considered commercial trading.
According to the details, the FBR has prepared a draft of amendments to the Baggage Rules 2006 and released it for comments from stakeholders. Comments and suggestions can be given within seven days on the proposed rules and suggestions and opinions received after the specified period will not be accepted. If comments and suggestions are not received by the specified period, the proposed rules will be implemented through a gazette notification.
Under the baggage scheme, those coming to Pakistan from abroad will be allowed to bring only one mobile phone for their personal use. The proposed rules state that all mobile phones other than one phone will be confiscated.
