Kashmir — A Kashmiri family has come forward with serious allegations of ongoing harassment and intimidation after an FIR was registered in connection with a rally, raising concerns about pressure on political activists and their relatives.

In an exclusive interview with multiple news channels, Nasir Liaquat described how his family has been repeatedly harassed by police officers and unidentified men in plain clothes, who repeatedly ask them to hand over his brother.

Nasir says that his brother, Ansar Liaquat, serves as Deputy Organizer of a local Kashmiri organization (JKNSF). According to the family, Ansar was leading a peaceful rally from Datote when the police had blocked the road. During the event, some participants allegedly threw stones at police, and a case was filed. Because Ansar was leading the rally, his name was included in the FIR, forcing him to leave the area for his safety.

“We are being harassed day and night… sometimes during the day police arrive, and at night people come to intimidate us. We just want protection for my brother,” Nasir told reporters in the interview.

The family claims the constant pressure has affected their peace and security, and they have appealed to authorities to ensure Ansar’s safety until the legal matter is resolved.

Police authorities have not yet responded to the family’s allegations.
