27 individuals were killed when a bus taking infected persons to a Covid-19 quarantine center in China collapsed. In the Guizhou region of China’s southwest, the coach overturned on a highway. Twenty more victims suffered injuries.

Since the pandemic began roughly three years ago, Guizhou province has only experienced two Covid fatalities. Beijing’s “zero-Covid” policy has drawn ire from those who oppose it online in the wake of the catastrophe.

Mass testing and tracking are part of the stringent policy. Anyone who tests positive must isolate themselves at home or in a quarantine center, along with any close contacts.

A city-wide shutdown can be sparked by a small number of incidents. Passenger buses are not permitted to operate on the roadway in China between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00.

The bus left shortly after midnight, but the accident happened at 02:40 local time on Monday (18:40 GMT Sunday), showing the bus had broken the law. A lady who identified herself as the victim’s daughter posted a message on social media expressing her “inability to accept” her mother’s passing.

“My mother stayed at home for a month and a half. Apart from going outside for PCR tests, she didn’t leave the house. However, she was abruptly brought to quarantine and passed away.”Some people shared their own awful bus rides to quarantine facilities online.
