Asif Ali, a flashy batsman for the Pakistan cricket team, has stated that the upcoming seven-match T20I home series against England, which begins tomorrow, will be an opportunity for him to develop his match-ending skills (September 20).
Asif stated that he wanted to improve on things he wasn’t able to do at the just-finished Asia Cup 2022 during the white-ball series against the visiting team. The batter in the middle of the order continued, “The series will also give us [a] good opportunity to prepare ourselves for the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Australia next month.
He claimed that he is committed to his objective and working to fulfill the team’s expectations. The 30-year-old batsman gave a hint that he is working to further develop his match-finishing skills when asked what his series goal would be.
“I’m trying to improve my finish because I had trouble finishing correctly during the Asia Cup. I’m working very hard on this, and I’m talking to coaches about how to make it better “said he.
Asif explained that by arriving late to the nets, which lets his body sufficiently cool down after warm-up as would be the case during matches, he is attempting to mimic the match environment. Asif, who has played for Pakistan in 21 ODIs and 45 T20Is, acknowledged that his batting position is frequently under pressure, but that this is what makes cricket so exciting.
“I typically bat when an average of 12 to 14 runs are required every over. I occasionally only get to bat in the game’s final over. However, I constantly strive to draw lessons from my past performances and concentrate on methods to get better in the future,” he remarked.
