LAHORE: Pakistan’s finest players would be needed in the next three-match One-day International series against the Netherlands as part of the ICC World Cup Super League, according to skipper Babar Azam.
The national team’s choice for the games, which will be played from August 16 to 18, has been criticised owing to the lack of any emerging talents in the squad, who will face a rather inexperienced Dutch side.
Babar believed Pakistan was coming into the series with the best combination of players, which he had chosen after extensive deliberation with chief selector and head coach.
Considering the Netherlands as a weak side, there was no need to include a lot of minor players, Babar said during a media briefing at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.

Pakistan is presently ranked fifth in the Super League. The top eight teams will eligible for the 50-over showpiece, which will be held in India next year.The injury to fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi during the previous Tour match against Sri Lanka have left Pakistan without even a pace spearhead.
Shaheen, on the other hand, will accompany the team to the Netherlands, where “he will continue undergoing rehab under the care of the team medics,” according to Babar.
