QUETTA: The security situation in Barkhan district of Balochistan has once again become tense after unidentified armed men launched a fierce attack on the crushing plant of Zarghun Construction Company late last night.

The attackers first opened fire on the plant and abducted three workers from Musakhel present there and took them away.

According to police sources, the attackers also attacked a police post near the plant, snatched the official weapons from three policemen present there and fled the scene. The incident took place in a remote area of ​​Barkhan district where the company was engaged in road construction and related works.

According to officials, the attackers opened heavy fire on the plant, causing partial damage to the machinery and suspending the work process. The three abducted workers have been identified as residents of Musakhel, who were working in the company on a daily basis.

Security forces and police have launched a search operation in the area immediately after the incident. Levies and Frontier Corps (FC) teams are also active and the search for the suspects is on. So far, there has been no report of the recovery of the abductees or the arrest of the attackers.

This attack is a new episode in the recent incidents against construction companies, especially workers and security personnel working on road and infrastructure projects in Balochistan.

Experts say that the aim of such attacks could be to stop the projects and spread panic in the area.

The district administration has tightened security in the affected areas and appealed to the public to immediately report any suspicious movement. Zarghun Construction Company officials have also confirmed the incident and are contacting the families of the affected workers.
