Texas: Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani detained in the United States, has met her sister after 20 years.
Aafia Siddiqui, who is detained at the Carswell Federal Medical Centre in Fort Worth, Texas, reportedly met her sister, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, according to reports.
The two sisters met after 20 years sitting across the glass. During the two-and-a-half-hour meeting,
Aafia informed her sister about her treatment, while Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui told Aafia about her children. Aafia Siddiqui was wearing a khaki jail dress and was wearing a headscarf.
The US authorities did not allow Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui to show pictures of Aafia Siddiqui’s children. At the time of Aafia’s arrest, her son was 6 months old. Aafia Siddiqui’s daughter has now become a doctor and her son has become a young man.
Fauzia Siddiqui, Senator Mushtaq, and the lawyer seeking her release are expected to meet with Aafia on Wednesday and Friday to discuss further possible steps for Aafia’s release.
She is currently undergoing treatment in a federal medical prison in the state of Texas, where women prisoners are provided with special medical and mental health facilities.
Aafia was sentenced to eighty-six years in prison in Manhattan in 2010. He was accused of trying to shoot US military officers while in custody in Afghanistan 2 years ago
