Pakistani politics is no lesser than a tragic movie. It seems as if the entire future of the country rests with the two protagonists of this story. As Nawaz sharif has marched towards his homeland seeking the support of his people against the July 28 verdict, Imran Khan is in no way leaving an opportunity to rally for the ouster of the former PM. This kind of democracy which is more of a competition between the two leaders will add a lot the pages of history. It is a kind of democracy that favors the stability of the leaders, throwing behind the stability of the nation. Another addition of this historic democracy is the significance of the road shows. Nawaz Sharif files three separate petitions in SC for review and halting further implementation of verdict in panama papers case after a four-day homecoming rally. It signifies that the trust of the leaders on the road shows has surpassed the confidence on the institutions. Or it is just a new kind of democracy. There is no denying from the fact that deliberative democracy is more beneficial than merely a representative democracy but the later form of democracy has been much distorted by the present democratic leaders. Apparently, it is more about the emotional responses and post reactions of those responses when it comes to ‘our kind of democracy’. This emotional and aggressive democracy is more about the political elites rather than the poor civilians. But one must motivate these instigating forces. Yes, the political fan following that has been gathered by Imran Khan with his aggressive democracy and the support of Mr Sharif’s followers because of his emotional public speeches must be acknowledged. Both of the leaders disserving the democracy have brought forward something optimistic as well. The inception of mass accountability of the leaders has engulfed few and is expected to take more into its grip. What we have to wait for is to look upon the reach of this grip. Those who look back into the pages of the history when such personal enmities have given room to the military rules will be more concerned. Both the leaders have repeatedly negated any personal benefits but at the flipside have left no stone unturned in pulling each other down.
