ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (INP) Islamabad Citizen committee (ICC) has called for
designating a specific place in the federal capital for holding public
rallies or sit-ins.
The ICC’s executive committee which met here today under the chairmanship of
its President Latif Ahmad Rana urged local administration to fulfill its
duty for protecting the life and property of the citizen as well as ensuring
that their normal life should not be affected.
The committee said that no political party or group should be allowed to
paralyse the life of the local residents. It was noted that government’s
control or rule of law was almost non-existent during the last two and half
months in wake of agitation or ‘dharana’ in the federal capital.
The committee observed that the recent sit-in by PTI PAT at constitutional
avenue and ‘D’ choke has badly disturbed the normal life of the local
people.
It was decided that the ICC will file a petition in the supreme court of
Pakistan, seeking its direction to the local administration for arranging a
specific place for dharnas which may not cause hindrance in the movement or
social or commercial activities of the residents.
A statement issued by the ICC said , “We are seriously concerned over the
growing security risk to our lives, during agitation and rallies.
The mob gathered in the heart of city paralyze the whole life. The leaders
of political parties must ensure that normal civic and commercial activities
are not disrupted and no public or national property is damaged or
destroyed.
