ISLAMABAD: DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry says that one of the facilitators of terrorism was the incompetent and indifferent government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a facilitator in the province that was creating obstacles in counter-terrorism is no longer there.
In an interview with the international news agency ‘Reuters’ on October 30, 2026, the DG ISPR clarified on counter-terrorism operations that we have a clear strategy to deal with terrorism, part of which is to eliminate terrorists and all their facilitators inside Pakistan.
The DG ISPR said that there are also some issues related to terrorism that we have to handle internally. No one in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is against counter-terrorism operations, only those who have links with these terrorists oppose counter-terrorism.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that instead of any major military operation, intelligence-based operations are being carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the security forces conduct about 200 intelligence-based operations on a daily basis. Intelligence-based operations are carried out in cooperation between the police, army and other law enforcement agencies.
DG ISPR said that our mentality is not like India’s, that we consider all internal problems as external and we do not say that all terrorism in Pakistan is only because of Afghanistan, but Afghanistan is the main base from where terrorism occurs in Pakistan, where the leadership of terrorists, their training camps and launch pads are located.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that no country or army has the experience of counter-terrorism that we have because of fighting for the last 20 years, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have suffered the most due to this terrorism.
The DG ISPR said that the proud people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are brave and a very special part of Pakistani society. There is no better people than the Pashtuns, they are proud of their traditions, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa demand peace and stability and they deserve it.
