Former US President Barack Obama has strongly criticized Donald Trump’s policies, saying that the war against Iran has increased the hardship and costs for the people.
According to foreign news agencies, while speaking in support of former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown in Cleveland, Ohio, Obama said that the current president has made many wrong decisions.
Obama called the war with Iran the main reason for the increase in oil and diesel prices in the United States, saying that the most important of them is starting an unnecessary war that no one demanded nor did the people vote for.
Obama said that the war with Iran increased the prices of oil and diesel in the United States, American military bases and allies were attacked, while American citizens were killed and hundreds were injured.
He said that the US missile reserves have also decreased. The situation in the Strait of Hormuz has affected the supply of oil to global markets. Ordinary Americans are bearing the brunt of the rise in oil and diesel prices.
The former president defended the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which was negotiated during his tenure, saying that the deal was an attempt to limit Iran’s nuclear program through diplomacy and that there was no need to launch missiles for this purpose.
Obama also criticized Trump’s decision to withdraw from the deal.
Obama also objected to the Trump administration’s economic policies, rising inflation and tax breaks for the wealthy.
He said that the government should focus on reducing the costs of ordinary citizens, but the president seemed to be more interested in projects like the White House renovation.
He sarcastically said that Trump should host a home renovation program.
Obama mocked the gold decorations and other changes to the White House, saying that the building looked as if Saddam Hussein had opened a cheesecake factory.
The former US president said that the past two years have seen chaos, oppression, corruption and incompetence, and now voters have the opportunity to say enough is enough, change must come.
He added that the American people do not need members of Congress and state leadership who are lawless, reckless and indifferent to the plight of the working class.
In Ohio, Obama also criticized a campaign ad by Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. The ad featured the mother of his political rival, Democratic candidate Amy Acton.
According to Obama, Acton had faced traumatic situations such as abuse, neglect and homelessness as a child and it was inappropriate to use her personal experiences for political purposes.
Speaking in Detroit, Michigan, Obama supported Democratic Senate candidate Abdul-Sayed and objected to those who criticized his name and Muslim identity.
He said he had seen this before and had faced baseless accusations about his birthplace and identity during his presidential campaigns. Obama endorsed Abdul-Sayed, saying he was qualified to represent Michigan.
The former president also supported state gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson and praised her role in defending the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Obama stressed that the November 3 midterm elections are an important opportunity to balance the American political system. According to him, voters can influence representation in Congress and government policies through these elections.
It should be noted that in these elections in the United States, the Democratic Party is trying to end the Republican Party’s lead in the House of Representatives and Senate, while important Senate and governorship contests in Ohio and Michigan are also the center of political attention.
