Pakistan cricket team has overtaken Australia to occupy the fourth position in the ICC ODI rankings after impressive victories against Sri Lanka and England.
As a result of the successes in the ongoing tri-nation series in Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s rating points have increased to 103, while third-placed South Africa is at 104 points, with a lead of just one point. AtlasMaps
India is at first with 115 points and New Zealand is at second with 109 points, while Australia has moved to fifth position.
The main reason for Pakistan’s improvement in rankings was a brilliant 87-run victory against England in which young all-rounder Arafat Minhas played a prominent role. AtlasMaps
He took six wickets for just 40 runs after scoring 59 runs off 58 balls.
Pakistan, despite losing four wickets for 81 runs at the start, scored 302 runs thanks to Hassan Nawaz’s 79, Arafat Minhas’ half-century and Faheem Ashraf’s aggressive 39 runs.
In reply, England were bowled out for 215 runs.
Pakistan is now just one point away from overtaking South Africa.
If the series of victories continues, the national team can further advance in the rankings.
