In the Peshawar High Court, regarding the recovery of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, and others, the court has issued notices to the Federal Government, the Chief Secretary, and other relevant parties, seeking their responses.
A two-member bench, presided over by Justice Syed Arshad Ali of the Peshawar High Court, heard the cases. The petitioner’s counsel informed the court that following the imposition of an emergency and Governor’s Rule, the Chief Minister, the Speaker, Junaid Akbar, and others were taken into custody.
Their current whereabouts remain unknown. It was noted that Speaker Babar Saleem holds a constitutional office, yet he has still been taken into custody. During the proceedings, Justice Syed Arshad Ali remarked, “Where is the Chief Minister, exactly?”
He also questioned why the Chief Secretary had not been named as a party to the case. The court issued notices to the Federal Government, the Inspector General (IG) of Police, and other concerned parties, directing them to submit a response. The hearing of the cases has been adjourned until November 3.
