Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has issued a clarification regarding his statement about no longer feeling as at ease in India as he once did. The actor had faced severe criticism for the remarks, which he made during an appearance on Shekhar Suman’s show.
In a clarification posted on social media, the Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. actor stated that he had no intention of hurting the sentiments of any individual, community, or institution.
Dutt explained that the conversation in question was part of a pre-planned script and that his aim was to inject some humor and levity into the program. He noted that his comments were made within the context of that scripted dialogue, which employed a humorous and satirical tone.
Referencing the style portrayed in the Munna Bhai films, the actor stated that the same spirit of humor lay behind his comments—specifically the concept of “Gandhigiri,” which sought to convey messages of love, camaraderie, unity, and goodwill.
Sanjay Dutt expressed regret that his words had been interpreted out of their original context, reiterating once again that he had no intention of causing offense.
