Sri Lanka have announced a 16-member squad for the ODI tri-series against Pakistan and England, with Avishka Fernando returning. He will play his first ODI since February 2025.
Opener Avishka Fernando replaces Charith Asalanka. He has been in excellent form in recent domestic cricket, scoring two centuries in three matches, with a best of 160. He is also the highest run-scorer in the Major Clubs Limited Overs tournament with 447 runs.
Kusal Mendis will lead the team, but his vice-captain has not been announced. There have been few changes to the team that suffered a 3-0 defeat against England, while Sahan Arachage, who joined the ODI series against England in place of the injured Winindu Hasaranga, has also been retained.
The tri-nation series will begin on October 18 with a match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, while the final will be played on October 31 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The Sri Lankan squad includes Patham Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kamil Mishra, Kaushal Mendis (captain, wicketkeeper), Pawan Ratnayake, Sahan Arachage, Kamindu Mendis, Jayanthi Liyange, Dasan Shanaka, Donith Vilallage, Mahesh Thekshana, Sachindu Colombage, Dushmantha Chimera, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka and Ishan Malinga.
