Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam was signed by Desert Vipers for 80,000 US dollars in the DP World ILT20 Season 5 auction. With this deal, Babar Azam, who is considered one of the world’s leading cricketers, became a part of the franchise league of the United Arab Emirates.
Babar Azam is currently participating in the President’s Trophy Grade One in Pakistan and continues his engagements in domestic cricket. Earlier, he also performed brilliantly in the Pakistan Super League this year. History
Babar Azam won the HBL PSL 11 title while leading Peshawar Zalmi in May. This was the second PSL title in Peshawar Zalmi’s history while the team won its first championship title in 2017.
This was Babar Azam’s first PSL title as captain. He also became the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 588 runs, including two centuries. After his impressive performance, he was also named the captain of the PSL Team of the Tournament.
After joining Desert Vipers, the ILT20 franchise has gained the services of an experienced top-order batsman who has extensive experience in international and various franchise leagues.
Babar Azam’s arrival in ILT20 is also expected to increase the interest of cricket fans in Pakistan and the UAE.
In the ILT20 Season 5 auction, all six franchises of the league are selecting players to further strengthen their teams ahead of the fifth edition.
