Electricity is likely to become more expensive for consumers across the country, including those served by K-Electric, due to monthly fuel adjustments.

The CPPA has submitted a request to NEPRA regarding the monthly fuel adjustment for August, seeking an increase of Rs 1.73 per unit in electricity rates. The Authority will hold a hearing on the CPPA’s request today.

According to the CPPA, 14.464 billion units of electricity were supplied to DISCOs in August, with the cost of supply standing at Rs 8.82 per unit.

In August, electricity generation sources included 37.84% from hydropower, 10.88% from local coal, 15.59% from imported coal, and 2.15% from furnace oil.

During the period under review, 7.04% of electricity was generated from local gas and 8.48% from imported LNG.
