Karachi: Trial exports of vehicles manufactured in Pakistan to Bangladesh will begin this month.
According to memorandum of understanding was signed between a Pakistani automobile manufacturing company and a Bangladeshi business group to export 5,000 vehicles to Bangladesh in July 2026, under which 100 vehicles will be exported to Bangladesh on a trial basis this year, starting from September, while regular and large-scale exports are planned to start next year.

Two models of global brand vehicles manufactured in Pakistan in collaboration with SAIC Motor China will be exported to Bangladesh this month, which is an important milestone in the promotion of cooperation and trade in the auto industry between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

According to Jian Qiangshao, CEO of the vehicle exporting company, earlier these models were exported from China, however after our discussions and efforts, we convinced SAIC Motor headquarters to support MG Pakistan and change the business model from CBU export to CKD export from Pakistan to Bangladesh.

He said that this move is an important and possibly the first example towards achieving sustainable automotive exports in Pakistan. This is because it is a Win-Win business model. The advantage of CKD export for the Bangladeshi distributor is that it can reduce import duties. On the other hand, it is an opportunity for us to achieve these exports.

He said that MG Pakistan will provide guidance to its Bangladeshi partner regarding the assembly, general assembly (GA) and quality control procedures of the vehicles. Our local engineering team will travel to Bangladesh to provide guidance as well as engineering services.
