The UAE government has clarified three situations for foreign workers working in the private sector in which they will not be issued a new work permit for 12 months.
According to the UAE government, foreign employees may be deprived of a new work permit for one year in three important situations.
- Leaving the job during probation
If an employee leaves his job during the probation period, he may face a one-year ban.
However, this ban will apply if the employer has fulfilled all its obligations under the employment contract and the employee has left the job prematurely without any valid reason.
- Absenteeism from work
If an employee does not attend his job without permission or an acceptable reason and the employer files a report of leaving the job against him which is verified, he may still be banned from obtaining a new work permit for one year.
- Work permit of a fake company
If a foreigner has a work permit for a company that does not actually exist or is proven to be a fake entity and the work permit is cancelled on this basis, the relevant person may also be subject to a one-year ban.
What does the ban mean?
In the event of a one-year ban, the affected foreign worker will not be able to obtain a new work permit to obtain a new regular job in the private sector of the UAE during this period.
