The Miss Grand International 2026 beauty pageant has been stripped of hosting rights from India. The organizers have announced that they will end all competition activities in India and move the remaining event to Thailand.
The Miss Grand International Organization said in a video and statement released on social media that India had not fulfilled its contractual obligations and set standards as the host country, due to which it was not possible to continue the remaining activities of the competition in India.
The organizers said that under the agreement, the host country was to provide five-star hospitality and production facilities during the competition, but according to them, these requirements were not met.
Big question on the ‘five-star’ standard
Miss Grand International says that the five-star standard is necessary not only for lavish arrangements but also for the safety, comfort and overall experience of the candidates, staff and partners.
The organization Miss Grand International says that this standard could not be met, so continuing the competition in India was not in the best interest of the candidates and other stakeholders.
Thus, the battle to win the crown of the global beauty pageant will continue, but the biggest question for India has become where it fell short on the five-star standard of hosting?
The journey of ‘Miss Grand’ from India to Thailand
According to Miss Grand International, several discussions and efforts were made to resolve the matter, but the organization decided to end its activities in India when the agreed standards were not met.
Now the remaining activities of Miss Grand International 2026 will be held in Thailand, where the competition will continue from September 18 to October 10, 2026.
Organizers say that the venues, schedule and other details of the competition in Thailand will be officially announced later.
Who will represent India?
It should be noted that despite the loss of the Miss Grand International hosting rights to India, the Indian contestants were not eliminated from the competition. Lakshita Thalagaraj will represent India in Miss Grand International 2026.
Who was crowned last year?
Last year’s Miss Grand International competition was held in Bangkok, Thailand, where Philippines’ Emma Taglao was crowned the winner.
Now the 2026 competition will once again be hosted by the same country after being shifted to Thailand.
It should be noted that Miss Grand International is one of the world’s leading international beauty pageants in which beauties from different countries participate. It was earlier held in India, but now Thailand has been canceled.
