Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that no concession will be given to officials guilty of criminal negligence in the PIMS tragedy, and the Health Minister and Secretary should take steps for the improvement of the hospital under their supervision.
According to Express News, upon returning home from Kyrgyzstan, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif held an emergency meeting regarding the Ministry of Health affairs and the PIMS fire incident.
Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Secretary Health Captain (retd) Muhammad Mahmood and Executive Director of PIMS Hospital Dr. Muhammad Salman were present in the meeting.
The Prime Minister was briefed on the health sector in the meeting, while a special briefing was given on the ongoing investigation into the PIMS fire incident.
It was informed in the meeting that the implementation of the Prime Minister’s decisions is being ensured in the light of the interim investigation report.
The Prime Minister said that no concession will be given to officials guilty of criminal negligence. He directed the Health Minister and the Health Secretary to ensure their personal presence at PIMS Hospital on both alternate days and to implement measures for the improvement of the hospital under their supervision.
The Prime Minister ensured the improvement of treatment facilities at PIMS Hospital and the implementation of all safety measures. Directing the Prime Minister to accelerate the process of reforms in the health sector.
