Karachi: Sky enthusiasts will be treated to a rare and spectacular astronomical spectacle on the evening of June 9, when the planets Venus and Jupiter will appear very close to each other on the western horizon.
According to astronomers, this phenomenon is called a “conjunction” in which the two planets appear very close when viewed from Earth, although in reality there is a distance of millions of kilometers between them.
This fascinating spectacle will be at its peak on June 8 and 9, when the two planets will be visible at a distance of about 1.5 to 2 degrees, which can be clearly seen even without a telescope.
According to experts, Venus, which is the brightest planet in the night sky, and Jupiter, which is the second brightest, will be easily visible in clear weather. Both these planets will be visible in the western direction for about two to two and a half hours after sunset.
Astronomers say this will be the closest conjunction of Venus and Jupiter in the Northern Hemisphere until 2028, making it particularly significant.
In addition, the planet Mercury may also be visible below them during the same time, while the view will take place near the constellation Gemini, where the stars Pollux and Castor can also be seen.
Experts have advised the public to head to the western sky shortly after sunset to enjoy this beautiful view, as it is an easily visible astronomical phenomenon that does not require any special equipment.
