Work underway on Lahore-Rawalpindi track, journey will take 2 hours and 20 minutes, says Railways Minister

Lahore: Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi says that the Lahore and Rawalpindi track is being prepared for which the metro is underway, the journey from Lahore to Rawalpindi will take two hours and 20 minutes on the new track.

Talking to the media after inaugurating the reservation office at the Lahore Railway Headquarters, the Railways Minister said that work is also underway on the Rohri track and it will be completed by September, and the People’s Train is going to be inaugurated on August 14.

Hanif Abbasi said that at present there is no work that is not being done in Pakistan Railways, everyone knows the problem of Pakistan Railways, the biggest problem is the railway track.

He said that when it comes to ML-1, all the provinces have been approached on it, all the provinces are working together, the Chief Minister of Sindh is also going to sign the MoU soon.

Hanif Abbasi said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan gave us the task of digitalizing Pakistan Railways. The control room that we have today is state-of-the-art. In addition, 7 more rooms will be built and FWO is also working with us in this.

He said that stations are going to be built in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Multan, Wi-Fi is going to be installed at all major stations, the market department is being changed, while work is being done on transporting auto vehicles.

The Railway Minister said that new racks of the Awam Express are going to be released. The Awami Express for Peshawar will be modernized from May 30 and new coaches will be installed.
