Lebanon has decided to formally request a one-month extension of the ceasefire with Israel in talks in the United States.
According to the international news agency AFP, this was stated by a Lebanese official on condition of anonymity.
Speaking to AFP, the Lebanese official further said that in addition to a one-month extension of the ceasefire, Lebanon will also demand an end to Israeli bombing and the restoration of areas destroyed in it.
According to the official, the Lebanese delegation also wants to obtain assurances of a permanent ceasefire and its observance.
On the other hand, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also confirmed this development and said that diplomatic contacts are ongoing to extend the ceasefire.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio is playing a key role in these negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, mediated by the United States.
It should be remembered that the current ceasefire began on April 16 and ends on Sunday.
