Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif telephoned Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian and informed him of his visit to Saudi Arabia and other countries and reiterated his resolve that Pakistan, with the cooperation of its friendly countries, will continue its sincere and serious efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif telephoned President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Peshkeshian and during this pleasant and friendly conversation that lasted for about 45 minutes, the two leaders discussed the situation in the region in detail.
The Prime Minister thanked President Peshkeshian and the Iranian leadership for sending a high-level delegation for talks in Islamabad on April 11 and 12, 2026, led by Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
Shahbaz Sharif also briefed the Iranian President about his recent meetings with various world leaders, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, and said that these contacts have proven to be very helpful in building consensus in favor of negotiations and diplomatic processes to establish lasting peace in the region.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister also thanked Field Marshal Asim Munir for the constructive discussions with the Iranian leadership during his visit to Tehran this week and reiterated his resolve that Pakistan, with the cooperation of its friendly countries, will continue its sincere and serious efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
He also expressed his best wishes to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
President Pezhakian thanked the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal for Pakistan’s strong commitment to peace efforts and expressed confidence that relations between Iran and Pakistan will further strengthen in the coming days.
