Just 24 hours after the Strait of Hormuz opened, tensions have escalated once again, with Iran hinting at another closure of this vital oil waterway.

According to the International Maritime Security Agency, two Iranian Revolutionary Guard gunboats opened fire on an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

The UK Maritime Trade Operation said the incident occurred about 20 nautical miles northeast of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz. The oil tanker and its crew are safe, and no casualties were reported.

On the other hand, shipping monitoring group Tanker Tracker claimed that two ships, including an Indian-flagged supertanker, were targeted by Iranian gunboats and forced to turn back.

According to Ports, a large crude oil tanker carrying about 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil was also hit in one incident. During this, warning shots were also fired.

In addition, Reuters also reported, citing shipping sources, that at least two commercial ships also confirmed that they were fired upon while trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

In addition, some ships in the Strait of Hormuz also received radio messages stating that the Strait of Hormuz had been temporarily closed and that no ships were now allowed to pass.
