US President Donald Trump has announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire that will begin at 5pm US time.
According to the World News Agency, US President Donald Trump claimed that the agreement on a 10-day ceasefire between the two countries was possible after his direct talks.
He further said that he had also contacted Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for the ceasefire.
President Trump said in his statement that the two leaders had agreed to a formal 10-day ceasefire to achieve peace between their countries.
He further said that recently, representatives of the two countries met in Washington for the first time in 34 years, in which US Secretary of State Marco was also present.
Importantly, President Trump’s statement did not mention the Iranian-backed Lebanese resistance organization Hezbollah, although clashes between Israel and Hezbollah are still ongoing.
The US President has also invited the Lebanese President and the Israeli Prime Minister for talks at the White House and said that both sides want peace and I am confident that this can be achieved soon.
President Donald Trump has instructed US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to move this process forward.
