The attacks affected the electricity system in the capital, but according to Iranian officials, electricity was later restored.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said that the US is apparently talking about negotiations but is also preparing for a ground attack, and if the US army enters Iran, there will be a strong response.
In the past 24 hours, there have been reports of attacks in various Iranian cities such as Karaj, Shiraz, Qom, Abadan and Tabriz, while a fire broke out at a petrochemical plant in Tabriz, which was later brought under control.
The situation in the Gulf countries was also tense. Saudi Arabia claimed to have shot down five ballistic missiles heading towards its eastern region, while a power and water plant was targeted in Kuwait, killing a foreign national. In Bahrain, alarm sirens were also sounded and citizens were instructed to move to safer places.
On the other hand, US President Trump said in an interview that he wants to gain control of Iran’s oil and possibly capture important sites such as Kharg Island. He also claimed that there has been a change of leadership in Iran, however, this statement is being debated in various circles.
The effects of the Iranian attacks were also seen in Israel, where an industrial plant was damaged, but no casualties were reported. Clashes and attacks also continued in Lebanon, Iraq and Gaza, widening the scope of the war in the region.
Meanwhile, the global economy is also being affected by the war. Oil prices have risen to more than $115 per barrel, while Asian stock markets have also seen a decline. According to experts, if the war lasts longer, the global food and energy crisis could intensify further.
