Islamabad: An American newspaper has revealed in its latest report that Pakistan made intensive diplomatic efforts to establish peace during the ongoing war in the Middle East, in which telephone diplomacy played an important role.

According to the report, the Pakistani leadership continuously contacted various world leaders to reduce tensions in the region. These contacts included important leaders from Tehran, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Istanbul and Brussels, with whom discussions were held regarding the establishment of peace and possible negotiations.

The American newspaper has claimed that the Pakistani leaders have close ties with both US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga, due to which Pakistan is being seen as an effective mediator.

According to the report, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Asim Munir are constantly engaged in efforts to restore peace in the region through diplomatic contacts.

On the other hand, German Foreign Minister Johannes Wiedefohl has also confirmed that indirect contacts have been made between the US and Iran and preparations for a direct meeting are now underway. According to him, an important meeting between representatives of the two countries is expected soon, which may apparently take place in Pakistan.

Experts say that Pakistan’s dynamic diplomacy reflects its growing role in the region and global trust, and if these efforts are successful, they could prove to be a significant breakthrough in ending the conflict.
