– Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has cancelled his two-day visit to Russia due to the evolving security situation in the region.
According to sources, the visit was considered highly significant, with the Prime Minister scheduled to depart to Moscow on March 2.
Officials from the Prime Minister’s House stated that the decision to cancel the trip was made amid the extraordinary developments in the region, emphasizing that security and national interests were the top priority.
In response to the evolving situation, the Prime Minister has convened an emergency meeting at the Prime Minister’s House later today. Senior military officials and heads of intelligence agencies are expected to attend. The meeting will review security developments in neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, and other regional hotspots.
Sources stated that the discussions will also focus on Pakistan’s policy and strategy in the current security environment, with guidelines and a national stance expected to be formulated in the coming days. The Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Islamabad shortly to preside over the session.
