The opening match of the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand today.

According to the details, Pakistan and New Zealand will face the second biggest challenge of the event in the match scheduled at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

In the group stage, both teams have reached the Super Eight by winning against weak opponents, while both teams have lost to strong opponents in their respective groups.

Between October 2022 and April 2025, the two teams have faced each other a total of 41 times.

The biggest challenge for the New Zealand team will be the change of venue. It has played all four of its matches in Chennai and Ahmedabad so far.

On the other hand, Pakistan has played only one match against India at the R. Premadasa Stadium, but the remaining three matches have also been played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.

The real competition in the match will be between Pakistan’s spin bowling and New Zealand’s batting. The Kiwi team has lost only 14 wickets in the four matches played so far.
